A Romeo and Juliet-style story of lovers from clashing cultures, Bollywood Queen fuses the fantastic flights of Hindi musicals with the more down-to-earth realism of community-specific Brit comedies.
Geena (Preeya Kalidas) is a Bollywood fanatic from a respectable Gujarati family, who meets Jay (James McAvoy), a young Scottish musician when he saves her from being crushed on a London street.
The two start to fall in love and begin meeting up in secret, hiding from Geena’s family. However, when her family learn of their romance, Geena’s brothers take away her phone and beats Jay up. Jay and Geena run away together to escape both families but later return to London for a family wedding where Geena attempts to reunite her family.
