Michel grows up in post-war Belgium, with his father Henry, an Auschwitz survivor. Henry cannot speak about the horrors. Young Michel and his three siblings laugh kindly at Henry, Everything changes when Henry and the family watch the Eichman trial on TV. Henry realizes that the horror must be known so it can never happen again. Henry returns to Auschwitz to share his experience with students, and dedicates himself completely to his new mission. Henry becomes a survivor “celebrity”, neglects his family, and can speak of nothing else anymore.
